ADELONG FALLS

Public BBQ

Adelong Falls delivers a perfect blend of history and natural beauty that makes the drive down the dirt road absolutely worthwhile. The preserved gold mining ruins scattered along the river are genuinely impressive - massive stone foundations and machinery remnants that tell the story of Australia's mining heritage. A viewing platform near the car park offers the easy option, but the short walk down to the river reveals the real treasures: crystal-clear swimming holes perfect for hot days, fascinating sculptures among the ruins, and hiking trails that wind through the entire site. The longer walk around the falls provides the full experience. With decent parking for cars and vans, plus toilets and covered areas, it's a brilliant day out combining history, hiking, and a refreshing dip.
